Actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have officially been cast in the roles of Superman and Lois Lane in "Superman: Legacy".
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news earlier today which director James Gunn has since confirmed via his official Twitter account stating, "Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people)."
As we previously reported, Corenswet and Brosnahan were among a group of six actors - including Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, Phoebe Dynevor, and Emma Mackey - that were brought into Warner Bros. this past weekend by Gunn and his DC Studios co-head, Peter Safran to screen test for the highly coveted roles.
The film will mark Corenswet's first major lead role in a major studio film having previously starred in such prior projects as "Pearl", "The Politician", and "We Own This City". Brosnahan is best known for her Emmy winning role as Miriam "Midge" Maisel in Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and has also had starring role in the Netflix series "House of Cards" and the WGN America series "Manhattan".
Corenswet is repped by CAA, Untitled and Jackoway Tyerman while Brosnahan is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
With the roles of Superman and Lois Lane now cast, Gunn and Safran will move on to casting the role of iconic villain Lex Luthor which includes a shortlist of potential actors including siblings Alexander and Bill Skarsgard. There are also other hero roles reportedly left to cast including members of the DC Comics supergroup group, The Authority which was created in 1999 by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch.
"Superman: Legacy" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
"Superman: Legacy" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
