David Corenswet is returning to the role of Superman for Man of Tomorrow, and the actor is offering a new glimpse at what audiences can expect when the Man of Steel takes flight again in the DC Universe. In a new interview with PEOPLE, Corenswet revealed that Superman's costume has been updated for the upcoming film, while also describing his return to the character as a more familiar and relaxed experience than his first time wearing the cape.

Corenswet described the Man of Tomorrow suit as “a little bit different,” explaining that the costume has been re-engineered to make it more functional and better suited for action. The change represents an evolution of the Superman look introduced in James Gunn's 2025 Superman, rather than a complete departure from the visual identity established for Corenswet's version of the character.

For Corenswet, however, the return to Superman is about considerably more than a revised costume. The actor said coming back for the second film was an enjoyable experience because he was once again surrounded by familiar faces and a production environment he already knew. He compared the experience to returning to “summer camp,” noting that the familiarity allowed him to approach the new material with greater ease while remaining excited about what the sequel would introduce.

That renewed familiarity extends to Corenswet's on-screen relationships. Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult reprises his role as Lex Luthor. Corenswet said he particularly enjoyed the opportunity to explore the relationship between Superman and Luthor in greater depth, suggesting that their rivalry will take on additional dimensions in the follow-up.

Written and directed by Gunn, Man of Tomorrow continues the story established by the 2025 film and is expected to expand the DC Universe's interpretation of Superman. The film will center on an uneasy, reluctant alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor as they are forced to work together against a much larger, cosmic-level threat in the form of Brainiac, portrayed by Lars Eidinger. The sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027.
