Dan DiDio Clarifies Future of DC Giants at Walmart

by Neil Cole

DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio has taken to Facebook to put to rest the recent rumors that the DC Giants line at Walmart would be coming to an end.

"Successful and continuing. For those fans of the DC Giants at Walmart, have to clear up some misinformation making the rounds," stated DiDio. "Just want to let you know these books are doing well, so well that we are looking to expand the number of original pages in each book and include distribution to the direct market. Look for these and new titles later this year. The promise is to keep it one of the best values and reading experiences in the market. Best, DD."

DidDio's statement clarifies a report which was sent out to comic shop owners following the ComicsPro retailer summit which seemed to indicate that a new Giants series with wider distribution would be introduced and replace the current Walmart DC Giants title run.

DC's 100-Page Giants launched last summer in Walmart stores across North America for only $4.99 each. The titles combine new short stories from such talents as Brian Michael Bendis and Tom King with reprints of classic and recently released DC material.
