A new behind-the-scenes development has emerged for the upcoming DC Studios film "Supergirl", as the production has reportedly undergone another change in its musical leadership. Composer Claudia Sarne ("Triple 9", "Broken City", "The Book of Eli") has now been brought on board to score the film, replacing Tom Holkenborg - better known to many film fans as Junkie XL - making her the third composer attached to the project during its production cycle.
The shift follows earlier scoring assignments that saw acclaimed composer Ramin Djawadi initially hired to create the film's musical score before being replaced earlier in 2026 by Holkenborg. Sarne's arrival marks the latest change in the film's creative lineup as post-production continues on the highly anticipated entry in the newly launched DC Universe franchise.
Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the Kryptonian heroine better known as Supergirl. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, Emily Beecham, David Krumholtz and Jason Momoa. Produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the film adapts the acclaimed DC Comics series "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" and will form part of the DC Universe's opening chapter, "Gods and Monsters."
While the reasons for the latest composer change have not been publicly detailed, such shifts are not uncommon during large-scale productions, particularly as filmmakers refine tone and pacing during post-production. The addition of Sarne brings a new creative voice to the project's musical landscape as the film moves closer to completion.
"Supergirl" is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 26, 2026, from Warner Bros. Pictures, positioning it as one of the major cinematic releases in the early phase of the reimagined DC Universe.
