A rare Christopher Reeve Superman costume from "Superman III" (1983) is among the highlights of Propstore's Planet Hollywood Online Auction, which runs now through July 2nd, 2026. The screen-used ensemble, previously displayed at Planet Hollywood, includes a tunic, tights, cape, belt, and replica boots inspired by those worn by Reeve during his portrayal of the Man of Steel. The lot carries a pre-sale estimate of $20,000-$40,000.
The costume represents one of the most recognizable superhero outfits in film history and is tied to the actor many fans still regard as the definitive live-action Superman. Reeve portrayed the iconic DC hero in four feature films between 1978 and 1987, helping establish the template for modern superhero cinema. Authentic wardrobe pieces associated with his performances remain highly sought after by collectors around the world.
According to Propstore, the costume features the familiar blue tunic emblazoned with the famous "S" shield, matching tights, a flowing red cape, yellow belt, and display boots. Production wardrobe labels identify the costume as having been created for "Superman III", while the cape reflects the specialized design techniques used throughout the Superman film series to create the illusion of flight during aerial sequences.
The offering is part of a larger sale of movie and television memorabilia from Planet Hollywood's renowned collection. For decades, the restaurant chain showcased screen-used costumes, props, and set pieces from major Hollywood productions, giving fans an opportunity to view authentic artifacts from some of cinema's most beloved films.
More than forty years after "Superman III" debuted in theaters, Christopher Reeve's legacy continues to resonate with audiences and collectors alike. With interest in Superman at a renewed high, the auction presents fans with a rare opportunity to own a tangible piece of the cinematic history of the Last Son of Krypton.
