A Christopher Reeve flying costume from 1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is among the memorabilia offered in Julien's Auctions' November 23 sale.

A Superman flying costume worn by Christopher Reeve during the production of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) is headed to auction. Julien’s Auctions is offering the ensemble as Lot 77 in its November 23 sale, with a presale estimate of $8,000 to $10,000.
The costume consists of a blue leotard displaying Superman’s familiar red-and-yellow shield, matching tights and red trunks. According to the auction listing, the pieces contain Bermans & Nathans wardrobe labels identifying Reeve and their use for flying sequences in the film. The leotard bears the designation “2935 Flying / Superman IV,” while the tights and trunks carry labels marked “4913 Flying / Superman IV.”
Among the production details are snaps at the shoulders of the leotard for attaching Superman’s cape and openings secured with hook-and-loop closures. The material features the textured knit and reflective finish characteristic of costumes made for Reeve’s Superman films.
Released in 1987, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace marked Reeve’s fourth and final theatrical appearance as the Man of Steel. The film follows Superman’s attempt to rid the world of nuclear weapons and his battle against Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow), a powerful adversary created by Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) with assistance from his nephew, Lenny Luthor (Jon Cryer).
The costume is among the entertainment memorabilia featured in Julien’s Auctions’ November 23 sale, presented in partnership with Turner Classic Movies. Collectors can view additional photographs, the full lot description and bidding information through the official Julien’s Auctions listing.
