Actor Gavan O'Herlihy Passes Away at Age 70

Actor Gavan O'Herlihy who was known for his roles as the villain in various films and television series throughout the 1980's & 90's has passed away at the age of 70.

Superman fans will best remember O'Herlihy for his role as Lana Lang's ex-boyfriend and Clark Kent's high school rival, Brad Wilson in "Superman: III". The role was previously played by actor Brad Flock in "Superman: The Movie".

In addition to his standout roles in such films as "Death Wish 3" as gang leader Manny Fraker and "Willow" as military commander Airk Thaughbaer, O'Herlihy famously played the eldest brother Chuck Cunningham in the first episode of "Happy Days" before completely disappearing from the series with no on-screen explanation.

Other acting credits include roles in "The Dirty Dozen: Next Mission," "Twin Peaks," "The Shooter," "Lonesome Dove," "Prince Valiant," "Butterfly Man," and "Seven Days of Grace". Horror fans may also remember him well for his role as Sheriff Vaines in the horror sequel "The Descent: Part 2", which serves as one of his last acting roles.
