Plano, IL Announces 7th Annual Smallville Superfest

The 7th Annual Smallville Superfest will take place August 17th - 19th in downtown Plano, IL and will feature music, games, and attractions for Superman (and comic book) fans of all ages.
Plano was thrust into the entertainment spotlight in 2011 after being chosen as the town that would double as Smallville in director Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, "Man of Steel".
Popular events returning to this years festival include the annual carnival which features a variety of rides for all ages, the Smallville Museum which displays several items from "Man of Steel", and "Fishing with the Mayor" where festival attendees can fish alongside Plano Mayor Bob Hausler and win various prizes provided by the Newark Sportsmen's Club.
New additions to the festival include a free screening of "Man of Steel" which will be shown at 8:30PM on August 17th and an appearance by actor Kevin Caliber who was featured as Kal-El on the hit CW series "Supergirl" and starred as Superman/Clark Kent in the 2018 fan film, "Supermen: World War". Caliber is scheduled to appear at the festival on August 18th to sign autographs and take pictures.
"It's a unique event; we celebrate having the 'Man of Steel' movie filmed in downtown Plano," said Mayor Hausler in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. "It's our biggest event we do every year. People enjoy not only the car show but the bands we have at the event. And we get a lot of people who go into the Smallville Museum and look at the artifacts from the movie. We also have a great gathering of folks who dress up in different superhero costumes. They come to town and walk around and get pictures taken. They're very popular in the downtown area."
