The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, NY will present a special family screening of "Superman II" on Sunday, May 31st at 12:00 p.m., offering audiences the opportunity to experience one of the most beloved entries in the Superman film series on the big screen.
Originally released in 1981, the film stars Christopher Reeve in his iconic portrayal of the Man of Steel, a performance that helped define the character for generations of moviegoers. He is joined by Margot Kidder as the determined Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane and Terence Stamp as the formidable Kryptonian villain General Zod, whose chilling command to "Kneel Before Zod!" has become one of the most memorable lines in superhero cinema.
In the film, Superman faces one of the greatest personal dilemmas of his life when he considers relinquishing his extraordinary powers in order to live a normal life with Lois Lane. However, events quickly take a dangerous turn when three powerful Kryptonian criminals - General Zod (Stamp), Ursa (Sarah Douglas), and Non (Jack O'Halloran) - arrive on Earth after escaping their imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. With their abilities rivaling those of Superman himself, the trio sets out to conquer the planet, leaving humanity in desperate need of its greatest protector.
Building upon the success of the original 1978 film, "Superman II" expanded the cinematic mythology of the Man of Steel while delivering larger-scale action, emotional stakes, and some of the franchise's most iconic moments. From the dramatic battles in Metropolis to the unforgettable confrontations between Superman and Zod’s forces, the film remains widely regarded as one of the defining superhero movies of its era and continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
Tickets for the May 31st screening are priced at $5.00 for children, $8.00 for Cinema Arts Centre members, and $16.00 for general admission. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit CinemaArtsCentre.org/.
