Actor Rutger Hauer Passes Away at Age 75

Actor Rutger Hauer who was best known for his starring roles in such films as "Nighthawks", "Blade Runner" and "Ladyhawke" has passed away at the age of 75.
Hauer's connection to the Superman universe was in the role of Morgan Edge during Season 3 of "Smallville" in which he starred as the character in the episodes "Exile" and "Phoenix".
Edge was the leading crime lord in Metropolis and a childhood friend of Lionel Luthor. After he hires Clark Kent (under the effects of red kryptonite) to steal a package from Lionel, he comes to Smallville to retrieve the package. He takes Martha and Jonathan Kent hostage to force Clark - now free of the effects of red kryptonite - to comply and kidnaps him with plans to deliver him to Lionel.
Hauer passed away on July 19th at his home in the Netherlands following a brief illness. The staff of the Superman Super Site wishes to express of most sincere thoughts and prayers to the Hauer family.
