Henry Cavill 'Never Gave Up Hope' on Returning to Superman

Fans worldwide are continuing to celebrate the news of Henry Cavill's return to the role of Superman which the actor recently confirmed in an social media post.

Following the surprising announcement, Cavill appeared on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast at 92NY in New York City with host Josh Horowitz where he further discussed his return to the Superman role.

"The character means so much to me. It's been five years now. I never gave up hope," stated Cavill. "It's amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I'm so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman."

Cavill also talked about his cameo appearance as the Man of Steel in "Black Adam" and what it was like to don the iconic suit again for the first time since filming "Justice League".

"I went to Warner Bros.' studio in the UK and got back in the suit," Cavill said. "It was a very powerful moment for me. I wasn't sure how I would feel... whether it would be something very emotionally connective because I put the 'Man of Steel' suit back on. I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit. It was important for me to be standing there and enjoying that moment. That is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again."

Rumors of Cavill's return to the role of Superman had been swirling for years and, just recently, Dwayne Johnson talked about how adamant he was to have Black Adam and Superman face off in a future film. Even though the now revealed "Black Adam" mid-credits scene teaases a future battle between the two, a standalone Superman movie will almost certainly come first.
