McFarlane Toys have revealed a first look at their upcoming DC Multiverse Superman (Strange Lives of Superman) Action Figures Collection which is a Target exclusive.
The collection celebrates some of Superman's most bizarre and imaginative comic book appearances. One figure is inspired by Action Comics Vol. 1 #243 (August 1958), created by Otto Binder, Wayne Boring, and Stan Kaye. In this story, Superman is transformed into a lion-headed hybrid after unknowingly ingesting an evolution potion concocted by the sorceress Circe, who sought to marry him.
Another figure draws from Action Comics Vol. 1 #256 (September 1959), by Curt Swan, Otto Binder, Stan Kaye, and Al Plastino. This issue features Superman masquerading as a futuristic version of himself from the year 100,000 A.D., complete with a large head, long fingers, and the ability to foresee future events. His mission is to uncover a secret agent's plot and thwart an assassination attempt on the President.
