DC Studios Releases "Krypto Saves the Day" Animated Short

Posted on August 13, 2025 by Neil Cole

DC Studios, under the leadership of co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, has released "Krypto Saves the Day!: School Bus Scuffle", a new animated short film starring the DC Universe's beloved canine hero, Krypto the Superdog. The short is now streaming on Youtube and HBO Max.

Krypto first appeared earlier this year in "Superman" (2025), the inaugural film in DC Studios' revitalized cinematic universe, where he quickly won over audiences with his playful spirit and mischievous antics. The new animated short builds on that breakout debut, delivering a fast-paced, lighthearted adventure that highlights the super-pup's mix of heroism and hilarity.

Produced by James Gunn, "Krypto Saves the Day!: School Bus Scuffle" embraces a whimsical tone aimed at audiences of all ages. Gunn describes the project as "so fun" and "for families," calling it "really fun and goofy" in keeping with Krypto's personality. The animated short offers a refreshing change of pace within the DCU, focusing on humor, charm, and heartfelt moments rather than high-stakes drama.

"Krypto Saves the Day!: School Bus Scuffle" marks the first installment in a planned series of four animated shorts centered on the superdog, each set to further expand his role within the DC Universe's growing interconnected stories.
