DC Daily Reveals Nicolas Cage's 'Superman Lives' Costume

On a recent episode of DC Daily, a never-before-seen costume from 'Superman Lives' was unveiled marking the first time the suit has ever left the Warner Archives and been put on public display.
The costume is one of many that actor Nicolas Cage would have worn in his portrayal as the Man of Steel in the failed film project which was to be directed by Tim Burton and produced by Jon Peters.
The story would feature Brainiac, Lex Luthor and Doomsday as villains. Wesley Strick and Dan Gilroy wrote the screenplays that were nearly filmed. In 2009, images of Cage wearing Superman costumes for screen tests began to surface.
While the costume revealed by DC Daily claims to be one from 'Superman Lives', it is more likey one created for the failed 'Superman: Flyby' film project that was written by J.J. Abrams in 2002 that involved Krypton besieged by a civil war between Jor-El and his corrupt brother Kata-Zor resulting in Kal-El being sent to Earth to fulfill a prophecy.
The production saw various directors attached to the project including Brett Ratner, McG, and Bryan Singer - who would ultimately direct 'Superman Returns' - as well as such actors as Christopher Walken, Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson, and Johnny Depp being approached for roles in the film.
Test footage of several actors was also shot for the role of Superman including Jason Behr, Jared Padalecki, Michael Cassidy, and Henry Cavill who would eventually land the role in 'Man of Steel'. Of the test footage shot, only one photo from Cavill's audition has been revealed featuring the actor wearing a prototype costume from the production.
