Otis and Mercy Graves Joining Season Four of "Supergirl"

by Neil Cole

Two new well-known characters will be joining the cast of the hit CW television series "Supergirl" when the show returns for it's 4th season on Sunday, October 14th.

As reported by Deadline, British actress Rhona Mitra will be featured in the role of Mercy Graves who was first appeared in "Superman: The Animated Series" as the loyal bodyguard/assistant of Lex Luthor and was also the inspiration for the Tess Mercer character on "Smallville".

Her role on "Supergirl" will apparently be quite different as she is described as "an ex-CADMUS agent who has always believed in human exceptionalism. But with both Lex and Lillian in prison, Mercy is stepping out of the Luthor shadow and running her own show. With her biting wit and lethal brawn, Mercy steadily becomes a key figure in National City's growing 'human-first' movement."

Also joining the cast will be actor Robert Baker who will portray Otis Graves, Mercy's brother who is described as her "defacto right hand man. What he lacks in brains, he makes up for with his savant-like abilities to assassinate aliens."

This version of the character is also completely different than that of the original which was portrayed by actor Ned Beatty in both "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman: II" as the bumbling sidekick Lex Luthor, as played by actor Gene Hackman.

Mitra and Baker are the two latest actors to be announced for Season Four and will join other newcomers including David Ajala as Manchester Black and Nicole Maines as Nia Nal.
