March 27, 2011: Production of Superman Reboot Heading to Chicago

According to ChicagoBusiness.com, Zack Snyder's Superman reboot will begin filming in Chicago this summer.

Codenamed "Autumn Frost," filming of Superman will take place in the Chicago area over two or three months starting in August with production centered in far west suburban of Plano.

"It would be a tremendous windfall for us," says Richard Moskal. "[Such a film] showcases a city well to audiences and draws the attention of other producers.”

Superman is coming into the Chicago area during a time where there are fears that Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan's recent bid to kill the state's 30% film tax credit in five years will put an end to the city's already struggling movie and tv industry.

"Once word is on the street that there's a sunset, that could all go away," says John Crededio, owner of the area's largest film studio, Chicago Studio City.

Filming locations are still unknown but Warner Bros. has begun hiring crew members in the Chicago area.
