Superboy Homepage Editor-in-Chief, Sam Rizzo has informed the Superman Super Site that Warner Bros. Home Video is planning to release the entire "Superboy" tv series in the very near future.

According to Rizzo, all the original footage from seasons 2-4 of the series has been discovered in the WB film vault. It was originally thought, even by series producer Ilya Salkind, that the original film elements had been destroyed but that is apparently now not the case.

Rizzo went on to state that WHV is currently deciding whether to release each season of the series on DVD/Bluray or in the form of on-demand DVD sets through Warner Archives which would feature only bare-bone episodes.

Until now, WHV have only released the first season of "Superboy" in DVD format (in 2006) with specualtion being that the remaining seasons had not received the same treatment due to lackluster sales of the season 1 DVD.

However, many fans agree that the series improved greatly with the debut of Season 2 which saw major changes such as Gerard Christopher replacing John Haymes Newton in the lead role of Superboy/Clark Kent and Sherman Howard taking over the role of Lex Luthor from Scott Wells.

The project is currently in the very early stages of development with Warner Bros. currently compiling all the necessary film elements to move forward.

With Superman returning to theaters next summer in "Man of Steel", it's possible that the "Superboy" series' release will tie into another "Year of Superman" campaign like WHV promoted leading up to the release of "Superman Returns" in 2006.

Whether or not this will be the case remains to be seen though.

Be sure to stay tuned to SuperboyHomepage.com and SuperboyTheater.net for further information as it becomes available!

Collider.com reports that an individual claiming to be a visual effects supervisor for Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot, "Man of Steel" has posted the following information on IMDB which supposedly describes scenes from the film:

Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level(most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.

The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.

The longer clip was even more stunning, but the more I think about it, slightly concerning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume in a verbal argument with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank. Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even. And is DEFINITELY sporting enhanced muscle. Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian “Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?” Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, “Who are you?” (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire. Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman (in Zack Snyder slow-then-fast-mo) then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach. The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

It was incredible, it really was. And absolutely visually stunning, but my qualm is its typical Zack Snyder. It doesn’t look glossy like his films do. It instead has a more clean cut, colorful look. Like Thor, or Iron Man. But it is the same slow-mo styling that people expect from him. Maybe it just happens in this one scene, but it happens twice. Makes me a bit hesitant, despite the fact it looks phenomenal.

Whether or not this information is accurate or the writings of an over-zealous fan remains to be seen and should be treated as strictly rumor until any official word and/or confirmation is released by Warner Bros. or the Snyder camp.

"Man of Steel" also stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Joer-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Kevin Costner as Jonathon 'Pa' Kent, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, Michael Shannon as Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton, Cooper Timberline as Clark Kent (Age 9), Dylan Sprayberry as Clark Kent (age 13), Jadin Gould as Lana Lang (age 13) and Robert Gerdisch as Whitney Fordham (age 14).

Superman is scheduled to make his return to the silver screen on Friday, June 14, 2013.

The Superman Super Site is proud to introduce a new weekly series entitled "The Forgotten Supermen" where, each Monday, we will feature an actor that has portrayed the Man of Steel in a particular form of media such as television, film, or radio.

This week's forgotten Superman is actor Patrick Warburton who provided the voice of Superman in a series of American Express commercials opposite actor Jerry Seinfeld.

Warburton was born in Paterson, New Jersey. His mother, Barbara Lord (née Barbara Jeanne Gratz), is an actress, and his father, John Charles Warburton, Jr., is an orthopedic surgeon. He has three sisters, Mary, Lara, and Megan. He was raised in a "conservative" Catholic family, and grew up in Huntington Beach, California, where he attended Saints Simon and Jude Catholic School until high school. Warburton attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California, and Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, CA. He studied marine biology at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, but dropped out to pursue modeling and acting.

Warburton's acting roles often rely on his deep, booming voice and large physique. In the mid to late 1990s, he was known for his role as David Puddy on Seinfeld, the indifferent on-again, off-again boyfriend of Elaine Benes. Warburton also had a small role in the 2002 movie Men in Black II. He also starred in FOX's short-lived, live-action series, The Tick, in the title role. He played Nick Sharp in 8 Simple Rules as well as joined the cast of Less Than Perfect in 2003, as anchorman Jeb Denton.

Warburton has put his voice to use for several animated films and TV programs, including a lead character in Game Over, Buzz Lightyear and the Little Green Men in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and Kronk in The Emperor's New Groove. Warburton reprised his role as Kronk for the direct-to-video sequel, Kronk's New Groove, and the subsequent TV series The Emperor's New School. He is also the voice of Steve Barkin in the Disney Channel show Kim Possible. Warburton was also cast in The Venture Bros., under Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. In this show he voices Brock Samson, the Venture family's brutally effective bodyguard and former secret agent. Warburton voices Joe Swanson on Fox's Family Guy and Detective Cash in The Batman. Warburton lent his voice talent to the computer-animated feature films Hoodwinked, Chicken Little and Open Season. He also voices Lok in all 3 Tak games and Lok in Tak and the Power of Juju Nickelodeon series.

In the commercial and advertising world, Warburton is the voice in the Carrier Corporation commercials for their air-conditioning and HVAC units, and was the voice of "Lewis" in the "Clark & Lewis Expedition" radio commercials for Horizon Air with Richard Kind as "Clark". There is a current radio advertisement for the United States Forest Service in which Warburton plays a park ranger, delivered in his typical deadpanned voice. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Warburton appeared in several M&M's commercials with the "spokescandies." He appeared in another M&M's commercial about 10 years later when Pretzel M&M's were introduced.

Warburton is featured in the "preboarding" film shown to guests at Soarin' Over California (located in Disney California Adventure Park). A similar film is shown, albeit slightly edited (new intro that removes reference to California), at Soarin' located in Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. Warburton delivers all of the instructions in his typical deadpan style.

Warburton appeared on GSN's Poker Royale Celebrities vs. the Pros tournament in 2005. He made it to the Grand Finale and won the $1,000 grand prize. Warburton's enduring identification with his character in Seinfeld was evident on January 13, 2007, during an NFL football broadcast. An advertisement for his new series, Rules of Engagement was played, and when the telecast returned to the broadcast booth, one of the announcers exclaimed, "Puddy!"

Warburton played a cameo role as a car salesman in the video of the song "Online" by Brad Paisley.

In August 2009, Warburton played a high-end PC in a "Get a Mac" ad for Apple Inc.

On November 8, 2009, Warburton appeared as the wild west character Cal Johnson on Seth & Alex's (Almost Live) Comedy Show, hosted by Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein, on Fox.

He has also been cast as the sheriff in the Cartoon Network series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.

He recently appeared as Bowser in a video by CollegeHumor entitled "The Roast of Mario".

He lent his voice to the droid G2-4T in the queue of the updated Disney attraction Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, which opened in the summer of 2011.

Warburton also became the spokesman for Japanese automaker Honda's Good Reasons advertising campaign in September 2011.

He appeared on the American version of the original British show Top Gear on February 21, 2012. He set the "Big Star, Small Car" lap record, beating previous record-holder Arlene Tur.

Warburton has been married to Cathy Jennings since 1991; they have four children – Talon Patrick (b. 29 November 1992), Alexandra Catherine (b. 9 July 1994), Shane (b. 1998) and Gabriel (b. October 2000). They live in Camarillo, California.

"Superman vs. The Elite", a DC Comics Premiere Movie, is produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video. The all-new PG-13 rated film arrives June 12, 2012 from Warner Home Video and is scripted by award-winning comics writer Joe Kelly and the story is adapted from his original 2001 DC Comics release, “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?” The single-issue comic, Action Comics #775, was lauded by Wizard Magazine as the “Greatest Superman Story of All Time,” and ranked the epic tale at No. 21 on its list of the “Top 100 Comics of the last 30 years.”

In "Superman vs. The Elite", Superman's effectiveness as a super hero comes into question when a new group of super powerful crusaders, known as "The Elite," appear on the scene. As super heroes, the Elite know no bounds, and are more than willing to kill, even on a massive scale, to stop villainy -- putting them on a collision course with the ever-ethical, yet preferably non-lethal Man of Steel.

George Newbern (Father of the Bride) reprises his Justice League animated television role as Superman, and primetime television star Pauley Perrette (NCIS) provides the voice of Lois Lane. Downes steps in as Manchester Black, leader of The Elite. David Kaufman (Justice League: Doom) also reprises his Justice League TV series role as Jimmy Olsen.

The film is directed by Michael Chang (Batman: Brave and the Bold). Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One) is executive producer, and Alan Burnett (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights) is producer.

"Superman vs. The Elite" is currently available for pre-order from Amazon.com as a Blu-ray™ Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP) and DVD ($19.98 SRP). The film will also be available via On Demand and for Download. Both the Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD will include an UltraViolet™ Digital Copy.

In anticipation of the film's release, Warner Home Video have released the following first official clip:

The American Academy of Art has named Chicagoan and 1989 graduate Alex Ross – one of today's most accomplished and famous comic-book artists – the 2012 recipient of its Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Ross, highly praised for the photorealism of his work and often referred to as "the Norman Rockwell of the comics world," will accept his award and speak to this year's graduating class at the Academy's commencement ceremony on Monday, May 14, 2012.

One of the most in-demand illustrators working today, Ross is credited with taking comic book and graphic novel illustration to new heights.

In 2011, Ross had his first museum exhibition, Heroes and Villains: The Comic Book Art of Alex Ross, which was held at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. It ran through January 8, 2012. The first museum exhibition celebrating Ross's artwork, Heroes and Villains featured more than 130 paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures from Ross's personal collection.

"We are proud of Alex and of all of his impressive achievements," said Richard Otto, the Academy's president. "Alex is an inspiration to our students and thousands of artists, worldwide. He's very deserving of the highest honor our school bestows."

"It's a great honor to have any kind of recognition like this and one I certainly did not expect," Ross explained. "I'm thrilled that the school still offers the same education that I received, and by many of the same people who gave it to me 25 years ago." Ross is a 1989 graduate of the Academy.

Before gaining fame for his portrayals of Superman, Batman and other iconic heroes, Ross began his career as a storyboard artist at the Leo Burnett advertising agency. Freelance work in comics led to contact with writer Kurt Busiek, to whom Ross pitched a story collaboration. Those plans came to fruition in 1993 with "Marvels," a graphic novel series that took a realistic look at Marvel superheroes by presenting them from the point of view of an ordinary man.

Ross is a multiple winner of some of the industry's most highly prized honors, including the Harvey Awards and the Eisners – both named after key craftsmen in the field. He's won those several times for categories related to best-limited series, best artist and/or best cover artist.

Commenting on his selection of the American Academy of Art for his formal training, Ross shares: "I followed the path my mom had taken before me, when she attended the school back in the late '40s. Knowing that I wanted nothing else but to pursue a career in art since I was a kid made it easier for my parents to guide me in this direction, where we knew confidently my ambitions would be nurtured the best way possible."

When asked what three pieces of advice he'd offer young and aspiring artists, Ross explains: "Figure drawing, figure drawing, figure drawing. Don't ever think that you can have this one licked. It will always be the thing you need to work harder on. That applies to myself and to everyone active in the field."

Born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Lubbock, Texas, Ross now lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago. For more information, visit http://www.alexrossart.com/.

In a recent interview with Blackfilm.com, actor Harry Lennix briefly spoke about his role as General Swanwick in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, "Man of Steel". Here's what Lennix had to say:

Blackfilm.com: And I know you can't say much on "Man of Steel" but how exciting was it to get that role?
Harry Lennix: Oh man! "Man of Steel" is going to be a very big deal when it comes out in Christmas of 2013. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Superman has always been my favorite superhero, it's not even close. I guess a close second would be Spider-Man, but I've always been a fan of Superman since I was a little boy. As a teenager I saw the reboot with Christopher Reeve and I've watched that many, many times, and the second one with Christopher Reeve many, many times. To be a part of something this traditional and this foundational to the American myth is a great honor and I'm pleased to say I have a good role in it and I was honored to have been a part of the whole process.

You may notice that Lennix mentions that the film comes out during Christmas, 2013 but Warner Bros. have set a firm release date of June 14, 2013. Lennix may have been confused by the one-time rumors that suggested the film would be released during the Christmas, 2012 holiday season.

Alongside Lennix, "Man of Steel" also stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Joer-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Kevin Costner as Jonathon 'Pa' Kent, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, Michael Shannon as Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton, Cooper Timberline as Clark Kent (Age 9), Jadin Gould as Lana Lang (age 13), Dylan Sprayberry as Clark Kent (age 13) and Robert Gerdisch as Whitney Fordham (age 14).

Veteran character actor George Murdock has died at the age of 81.

Murdock, who was born June 25, 1930 in Salina, Kansas, passed away in Los Angeles, CA on April 30, 2012.

In addition to such memorable appearances as Dr. Salik on the original "Battlestar Gallactica" and as 'God' in "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier", Murdock was no stranger to the Superman universe with roles on episodes of both "Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman" and "Smallville".

His roles on these popular Superman themed shows made him one of only seven actors to have appearances in both series.

Over the course of his career, Murdock appeared in nearly 200 production including "The Twilight Zone", "Knight Rider", "The X-Files", and as Admiral J.P. Hanson in the 1990 episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "The Best of Both Worlds" which is considered by fans to be one of the best two-part episodes of the series.

His last project was a fantasy short from writer and director Ian Samuels called "Caterwaul," described as an "intimate relationship" between an aging fisherman recovering from the death of his wife and a lobster.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Murdock, and a step-daughter.

A special screening of "Superman: II - The Richard Donner Cut" is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 8th at 12PM as part of the 1st Annual "Pop Con LA - Popular Culture Convention".

Unlike many "special edition" and "director's cuts" released over the years, "Superman: II - The Richard Donner Cut" is a very different film, despite both versions following roughly the same storyline. As much as half of the film contains never-before seen material filmed by Donner, including 15 minutes of Marlon Brando scenes as Superman's father Jor-El as well as numerous new Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder scenes. Some of this "new" material has appeared in earlier extended television cuts. Some of the existing scenes were also replaced with alternative takes or footage from different camera angles. There are also several newly-filmed shots and many new visual effects. Richard Donner is credited as director of the film instead of Richard Lester. More than half of Lester's footage filmed for Superman II has been removed from the film and replaced with Donner footage shot during the original principal photography from 1977. Certain footage filmed by Richard Lester remains in sequences that were not shot by Donner (due to the halt in production for this film) for purposes of story cohesion. As a result, approximately 83% of the footage in the film is Donner's footage.

As an added bonus, stars from the film including Margot Kidder (Lois Lane), Jack O'Halloran (Non), and Valerie Perrine (Miss Tessmacher) will be on hand for a Q&A session following the screening.

The "Pop Con LA - Popular Culture Convention" will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 5th through the 8th.

Heritage Auctions has announced their next upcoming auction entitled "Vintage Comics & Comic Art Signature® Auction" which will take place May 10th & 11th.

"Following our World Record setting February auction, where we realized almost $9 million total, we've come back with another deep and varied offering," said Ed Jaster, Senior Vice President of Heritage Auctions. "Besides original R. Crumb cover art from Zap Comics #8 and the first ever drawing featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we have many pieces in this auction that are important cultural comic touchstones, all of which will appeal to a wide variety of collector."

Among the items featured in the auction is a rare restored copy of "Superman No. 1" from 1939 graded at 7.5 by the CGC.

Heritage Auctions offers the following description:

This much sought-after key is currently ranked #4 on Overstreet's list of the Top 100 Golden Age Books. Yet in terms of significance, you could argue that only Action Comics #1 is more important in the history of the medium. That's because Superman #1 represents the first time that a character created for comic books was given his own series, at a time when the medium featured anthology series, strip reprints, etc.

The cover by Joe Shuster is a famous image, and the back cover pin-up is the first one in the history of comics! Of course, kids couldn't resist cutting this out to hang it up, that's why this book, despite a documented print run of one million copies, is so difficult to find intact.

It's worth noting that unrestored copies with comparable eye appeal are all but unheard-of: among unrestored copies certified to date, only two match or exceed this numerical grade. This professionally restored specimen is one to show off not only to other hobbyists, but to everyone who appreciates the significance of the character in American popular culture.

Other Superman items featured in the "Vintage Comics & Comic Art Signature® Auction" include a 1958 copy of "Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane #1", a 1940 "Superman Contest Prize Ring", and original cover art by artist Alex Ross from "Superman #675A".

For more information including a listing of all the items featured in the auction, visit HeritageAuction.com.

In a recent interview with Shockya.com, actress Ayelet Zurer briefly talked about her role as the biological mother of Superman, Lara Lor-Van in director Zack Snyder's upcoming film, "Man of Steel." Here's an excerpt from the article:

"I think it’s going to be an awesome movie, really. I loved Zack (Snyder). I think he’s a very cool and creative director, and I think the executive producers who developed the project are really on top of it because it’s a major movie and they’ve invested so much in it — not just money, but time. So I think the edginess of the direction that Zack took is something that’s really going to pay off. I have some scenes with Russell Crowe. And I love the costumes. I would steal one if I could. I don’t know if I’d have anywhere to go in it, but they’re nice, and overall it was such nice, nice work."

Alongside Zurer, "Man of Steel" also stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Joer-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathon 'Pa' Kent, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, Michael Shannon as Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Richard Schiff as Dr.

Variety reports that Warner Bros. has scored another win in their on-going legal battle with the estates of Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster over control of rights to the character. Here's an excerpt from the article:

In a ruling issued Tuesday, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals denied an effort by attorney Marc Toberoff, who reps the Siegel and Shuster heirs, to assert attorney-client privilege over documents that DC Comics claims are key to the litigation involving control of the famed superhero.

The three-judge panel ruled unanimously that Toberoff cannot assert the privilege because he had already disclosed the documents to the government as part of its criminal investigation of a lawyer, David Michaels, who briefly worked for Toberoff "before absconding with copies of several documents from the Siegel and Shuster files," the ruling states.

The documents in question are a letter and other materials that Michaels sent to execs at DC Comics in an effort to "detail Toberoff's alleged master plan to capture Superman for himself," the ruling states. DC Comics execs gave the material to an outside attorney but then sought to obtain them as evidence through discovery motions in two other ongoing Superman cases.

Read the complete article at Variety.com.

This is the latest victory for the studio in a brutal decade-long fight.

The Siegel and Shuster estates have been largely successful in terminating copyright grants over their early work, which includes some of Superman’s defining characteristics, such as his costume, Clark Kent and his origin story.

Superman is the brainchild of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who first envisioned the character in 1932 and later had his first appearance in Action Comics #1 in June 1938. What Jerry and Joe did not know at the time was that they had created a character that would become the signature icon of DC Comics and the most universally recognized hero in human history.

Since 1938, the character of Superman/Clark Kent has appeared in every imaginable media form including television, film, novelizations, and even a Broadway show.

Being Superman is the childhood fantasy of every little boy and girl (they of course want to be Supergirl). He is an enduring emblem of the American dream, the young immigrant who comes to the United States, embraces the culture and makes something of himself and enriches his adopted nation. He is a classical hero in the modern age who fights criminals, rescues the helpless and has a sense of morals and justice as strong and unshakeable as he is.

His homeworld was a planet called Krypton, a dying world. His parents, Jor-El and Lara hoping to save their son, placed his birthing matrix into a rocket and sent it to Earth so that he may live and could later use his abilities gained from the yellow sun to aid innocent life. Crash landing outside the town of Smallville, Kansas, the child was found and taken in by a farming couple. Jonathan and Martha Kent would become Kal-El's foster parents and raise him to the best of their ability. They named him Clark, and that name would become not only the link to his humanity but an alter ego that would help keep his loved ones from danger. As Clark grew into his teens, he found out more and more about his abilities, and as a young man he officially took on the guise of Superman thanks to a costume made by Martha from his swaddling clothes sent with him from Krypton.

By the time he was an adult he had gained the ability to fly, fire heat vision from his eyes and see through walls. From that point, he became the superhero we have all come to know and love. He became SUPERMAN!
