Screen-worn costumes donned by the cast of "Man of Steel" and actor Christopher Reeve in "Superman - The Movie" will be on display beginning this Thursday, October 2nd in Los Angeles, CA as part of the multimedia exhibition, "Hollywood Costume."
The groundbreaking exhibit is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and will be featured at the historic Wilshire May Company building through March 2, 2015. The exhibition space will become the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in 2017; Hollywood's premier museum devoted to the movies.
The various Superman movie costumes will be featured alongside other memorable costumes including Julia Roberts' red dress from "Pretty Woman" and the beaded gown and fur stole Marilyn Monroe wore in "Some Like it Hot."
Other costumes on display will include those worn by such Hollywood icons as Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis and Elizabeth Taylor.
The "Hollywood Costume" exhibition is the culmination of a five-year effort to source, identify and secure objects from all over the world. The collectors who have loaned to the exhibition include major motion picture studios, costume houses, actors, public museums and archives, and private individuals.
