Warner Bros. recently revealed that a direct sequel to Zack Snyder's 2013 blockbuster "Man of Steel" had become a "top priority" for studio and that the production was rumored to be the very early stages of development.
Now comes word from a recent Newsweek interview with Henry Cavill's manager, Dany Garcia that the sequel is indeed in active development:
“Henry has a big appetite,” states Garcia. “We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone... he’s beginning to expand that world.”
Where exactly the film will fit into the studio's ever expanding DC Film Universe remains to be seen for now.
