A new live-action television series based on "The Teen Titans" comic book could possibly be coming to the TNT Network in the very near future.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. and DC Comics are in talks with the Time Warner Inc. owned network to bring the series featuring the characters of Dick Grayson (aka Nightwing), Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy to life.
The television series would more closely resemble a popular 1980s comic called “New Titans.” It featured a 20-something version of Robin who changed his moniker to Nightwing, as well as the new heroes Starfire, Raven and Cyborg.
Akiva Goldsman, who wrote “A Beautiful Mind,” “The Da Vinci Code,” and 1990s superhero sequels “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin,” is writing the “Titans” pilot, along with Marc Haimes.
Goldsman was previously attached to produce a “Teen Titans” movie at Warner Bros. that was never made.
Currently, a more lighthearted animated series based on the team of comic book characters entitled "Teen Titans Go!" airs regularly on the Cartoon Network.
If the live-action series receives the green light, it would join the current line-up of such other DC Comics-based series as "Arrow," "The Flash," "Constantine," and Batman prequel "Gotham."
