September 1, 2015: Michael Shannon Retracts "Batman v Superman" Comments

A few weeks ago, actor Michael Shannon stated that his supposedly deceased character of General Zod would appear in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" but with a strange mutation in the form of flipper hands.

Now, in a recent interview with the Daily Beast, Shannon is backpedaling on that statement and saying that he never intended for his comment to be taken seriously.

"Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bulls**t answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bulls**t story, right? But people took it seriously."

Shannon went on to reveal that he did indeed spend time on the set of "Batman v Superman" but, contrary to the trailer for the film showing his corpse, he only provided voice over work and didn't actually put on a costume.

"The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts. The first [film], Jor-El is there even though he’s been dead for lord knows how long…I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it’s like that ghost thing. But I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. I get very nervous."

At this point, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what Zod's role will be in the film but all will be revealed in just under 7 months when "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" premieres on March 25, 2016.
