The pristine, vintage copy of 'Action Comics No. 1' which was recently up for auction on Ebay has sold for a record-breaking $3,207,852.00.
The rare comic which first introduced Superman to the world in 1938 was offered by prominent collectibles dealer Darren Adams. The comic received a 9.0 from the Certified Guaranty Company (CGC); the highest grade ever assigned to a copy of 'Action Comics #1' by the leading third-party grading service.
Adams previously stated that this copy of 'Action Comics No. 1' was stored in perfect conditions by its original owner -- in high altitude in West Virgina and kept in a cedar chest.
The selling price - which sets a new world record for the highest price ever paid for a comic book at auction - shatters the previous record of $2,161,000.00 which was paid in 2011 for another copy of 'Action Comics #1' sold by ComicConnect.com.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
