Rumors of actor Jason Momoa portraying Aquaman in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" have been officially confirmed.
Variety reports that the "Game of Thrones" actor has indeed signed on to star as the Atlantian who first appeared in DC Comics in 1941 and is a founding member of the Justice League of America.
Momoa's prior acting credits include Khal Drogo in the first season of "Game of Thrones" and the lead role in the 2011 reboot of "Conan the Barbarian."
As of this writing, Warner Bros. has not released an official statement or press release in regard to this casting announcement.
"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Henry Cavill returning to his role as Superman/Clark Kent alongside Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayner and relative newcomer Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.
The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, and Holly Hunter as a yet-to-be-named member of the US Congress.
"Dawn of Justice" receives a worldwide release on March 25, 2016.
