June 21, 2012: Reeve Foundation Announces 2012 "Best Dad on Wheels" Recipient

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has named Steve Laux of Maple Grove, Minnesota as the recipient of the 2012 "Best Dad on Wheels" award.

Laux, who was injured in a diving accident 13 years ago in Lake Superior, along with his wife, Chau, take care of 3-year-old McKensie and 11-month-old twins Dakota and Devin.

"There are many men out there who, like Christopher Reeve, have embraced the importance of family and fatherhood in the face of great physical challenges," said Peter T. Wilderotter, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation President and CEO. "This is why we are once again looking to recognize a father who lives with paralysis and exhibits compassion, dedication and positivity, and honor him as the Best Dad on Wheels."

As the winner, Laux will recieve a $500 gift card from Tilt-A-RackŪ, producer of Mobility hitch mounted Aluminum Carriers to make the transportation of wheelchairs, and electric mobility scooters eliminating the need for trailers, and bragging rights!

According to the Reeve Foundation, almost 4,500 online votes were cast during the voting period.
