June 19, 2017: "Man of Steel 2" Rumored to Feature Brainiac & Supergirl

by Neil Cole

A new rumor indicates that Warner Bros. is discreetly developing a direct sequel to "Man of Steel" simultaneously with other DCEU properties that have already been scheduled for release.

The anonymous source behind the rumor goes on to state that the film will also feature the introduction of both Supergirl and Brainiac to the DCEU:

"The sequel to Man of Steel has been developing in secret. Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder finished writing a story for the film back in November. Multiple writers were approached to turn into a screenplay including the writers from Watchmen and the 300 movie series. Brainiac will be the villain and Supergirl will be introduced to the DCEU.”

Considering that actress Melissa Benoist already stars as Supergirl on the hit CW television series, it would be interesting to see who the studio might cast as a big screen version of the iconic superhero.

Of course, these claims are completely speculation at this time and should be taken with a grain of salt until such time that Warner Bros. releases an official statement confirming or denying the rumor.

Although heavily anticipated by fans, "Man of Steel 2" is currently without an attached director or a target release date.
