It was recently announced that Danny Elfman has replaced Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) on scoring and compose duties for "Justice League".
Elfman is certainly no stranger to the superhero movie genre having previously worked on director Tim Burton's iconic "Batman" movie in 1989 as well as Sony's original "Spider-Man" starring Tobey Maguire and both "Avengers" films.
Junkie XL, who previously scored "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" following the departure of Hans Zimmer, issued the following statement in regard to the passing of the torch to Elfman:
As my mentor Hans Zimmer told me: you haven’t made it in Hollywood as a composer until you get replaced on a project. So I guess I finally graduated this week. It pains me to leave the project, but a big thanks to Zack for asking me to be part of his vision, and I wish Danny, Joss and Warner Bros. all the best with 'Justice League.'
While no official reason has been given by Warner Bros. for bringing in Elfman to score the film, it is speculated that it was Joss Whedon's decision who has previously worked with Elfman on the "Avengers" movies. Whedon recently took over as director on "Justice League" after Zack Snyder stepped down following a family tragedy.
As for Junkie XL, his next project will be composing the official score for the upcoming "Tomb Raider" reboot.
