May 7, 2013: Metropolis, IL Superman Statue Receives Touch-Up

by Neil A. Cole

As Superman's official hometown of Metropolis, IL prepares for the 35th Annual Superman Celebration in a few weeks, the city's world famous Superman Statue is also being prepped for the annual festival in the form of some much needed TLC.

Throughout the year, more than 60,000 people stop in Metropolis, Illinois and visit the statue which results in a bit of wear and tear. To tackle this issue, staff members from the Super Museum have been busy the past few days cleaning the statue and applying touch-ups to the iconic red, yellow, and blue paint job.

This year's Superman Celebration is sure to be a hit with all Superman fans, young and old. There will be Q&A and autograph sessions with Smallville actors Michael Rosenbaum and Alessandro Juliani; "Superman: The Movie" actress Margot Kidder; "Lois & Clark - The New Adventures of Superman" actress Tracy Scoggins; and "Adventures of Superman" stars Laurie Mitchell Roberts and Gregory Moffett.
