by Neil Cole

The SyFy cable network has announced that they are in the process of finalizing a deal for a pilot order of David S. Goyer's "Krypton" series which will be set during the time of Superman's grandfather.

Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as executive producer/showrunner alongside Colm McCarthy ("Peaky Blinders") who will direct the pilot for Warner Horizon TV.

Goyer and Kindler are currently working on rewrites of the original script for the pilot which was written by Goyer and Ian Goldberg based on a story the two had penned together.

The series will be based on characters originally created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet of Krypton. The main storyline will be centered around the Man of Steel's grandfather as he fights to redeem the House of El's honor and save his world from utter chaos.

Goyer recently served as a co-writer on "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and will also serve as an executive producer on the "Krypton" series through his Phantom Four banner. The pilot episode is expected to air later this Fall.
