The Cinemapolis Theatre in Ithica, New York is celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Man of Steel with special screenings of "Superman & the Mole Men" on Saturday, April 21st at 9:00PM and "Superman: The Movie" on Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00PM.
The screening of "Superman & the Mole Men" is free and will feature an introduction and Q&A with famed comics writer and Superman novelist Roger Stern who will be on hand for this special one night only event.
The 1951 film features actor George Reeves in his first role as Superman/Clark Kent alongside actress Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane and centers around the Man of Steel intervening when hostilities erupt between frightened Midwesterners and a quartet of subterraneans.
"Superman: The Movie" is being screened as part of the theatre's Family Classics Picture Show. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for kids, or $10 for an entire family.
The 1978 blockbuster film stars actor Christopher Reeve in his debut performance as Superman/Clark Kent alongside Margot Kidder as Lois Lane and involves the Man of Steel's journey from Krypton to Smallville, Kansas and eventually Metropolis where he battles Lex Luthor as portrayed by Gene Hackman.
