March 16, 2015: Emporium Eyewear, Character World and Corsair Announce New DC Comics Lines

Posted by Neil Cole

Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK has welcomed new licensees and the extension and enhancement of commercial relationships with its existing partners for the DC Comics brand.

Emporium Eyewear is planning three different phased launches, with classic Batman and Superman branded eyewear scheduled to debut this summer. Justice League products will follow in October 2015 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice eyewear is set to launch in February 2016.

In addition to independent opticians, the large multiples, including Boots, Vision Express, Optical Express and ASDA, will be stocking products from the various ranges.

Elsewhere, Character World has extended its multi-brand contract with WBCP UK. The firm will continue to develop home textiles products featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman for men, women, boys and girls. The firm's latest Batman duvet design features the Caped Crusader so that the fan’s head fits with his body.

Corsair, the licensed personal care specialist, has also extended its licensing agreement with WBCP UK. Following success at retailers including Primark, 2015 will see the licensee significantly expanding its Batman range.

Corsair’s Batman range is set to include complimentary lines like sponges and innovative new products like the 2D Batmobile bubble bath reaching out to slightly older boys aged seven to 14 years and adult Super Hero fans and gift givers, too.

Corsair is also redesigning its Superman range and developing new collections for Justice League and Wonder Woman, with all three branded collections set to launch in 2016.

“The DC Comics brand continues to prove that it has the power to cross into all major product categories," said Preston Kevin Lewis, general manager, Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK and Ireland.

"The age and gender boundaries traditionally associated with Super Heroes no longer apply. Like these deals show, franchises from DC Comics have true mass market appeal and the potential of the portfolio is infinite.”
