Former 'Smallville' actress Allison Mack was a recent attendee at the 2014 Toronto ComiCon and, during a live panel, took time to talk about her decade long run as Chloe Sullivan on the hit tv series.
"Every time you do the first season of a TV show, they say it's gonna be a huge hit, it's gonna be such a big deal, and then six episodes in, you're canceled," stated Mack. "I was just hoping they wouldn’t kill me.
"We were really isolated; Vancouver is the land of green, not red carpet," added Mack. "We didn't have any paparazzi, any media blitzes. The show took a lot to shoot, it was taxing. We didn't have a lot of time to revel in it, so we were just trying to keep up."
In regard to the character of Superman and his recent return to the solver screen in "Man of Steel", Mack offered her opinion on why the character's popularity continues to endure.
"I think he encapsulates Americana and the American dream," said Mack. "The fact that he is so wholesome and so good, he gives a certain stillness to a very chaotic world. Tom [Welling] always had a very stoic, standard Superman stare, and he always came back to what is right, what is good, what is moral.
"It's something we don't get enough of, in American at least; he was the calm in the eye of the storm."
Following a recurring role on the FX series 'Wilfred' in 2012, Mack has taken a bit of a break from constantly auditioning and acting while continuing to enjoy the connection she has been able to make with fans of 'Smallville'.
