March 5, 2015: "Supergirl" Ready to Begin Filming This Week

Cameras appear to be ready to roll on the new "Supergirl" TV series from CBS starring actress Melissa Benoist in the lead role of Supergirl/Kara.
On Location Vacations reports that filming will begin in the downtown area of Los Angeles, CA this week:
According to new permits, Supergirl is filming on Frank Ct Alley., from 6th St – 7th St in Los Angeles on 03/06/15 – 03/07/15 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 AM and W 6th St, Spring St – Main St in Los Angeles 03/06/2015 – 03/06/2015 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In addition to Benoist, the series will star Laura Benanti as Kara's birth mother Alura Zor-El, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Kara's foster sister Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, Jeremy Jordan in the role of Winslow "Winn" Schott (aka Toyman), David Harewood as the villainous Hank Henshaw, and Calista Flockhart as Catherine "Cat" Grant.
The series will also feature guest-starring roles from former Superman and Supergirl actors Dean Cain and Helen Slater.
"Supergirl" will focus on Kara Zor-El who, born on the planet Krypton, escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
The series will be executively-produced & written by "Arrow" and "Flash" executive producer Greg Berlanti and "New Normal's" Ali Adler along with Sarah Schechter.
