February 24, 2015: Calista Flockhart Joins Supergirl Cast as Cat Grant

Actress Calista Flockhart has been cast in the role of Catherine "Cat" Grant in the upcoming CBS TV series "Supergirl."

Grant will be portrayed as a former journalist turned "self-made media magnate" and founder of her own global powerhouse company CatCo.

Flockhart is best known for her starring roles in the FOX TV series "Ally McBeal" as the title character and the ABC TV series "Brothers & Sisters."

Flockhart will co-star alongside actress Melissa Benoist in the lead role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, "Nashville" star Laura Benanti as Kara's birth mother Alura Zor-El, and actor Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen.

"Supergirl" will focus on Kara Zor-El who, born on the planet Krypton, escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

The series will be executively-produced & written by "Arrow" and "Flash" executive producer Greg Berlanti and "New Normal's" Ali Adler along with Sarah Schechter.

The series will be the fifth based on a DC Comics character currently airing on television including "Gotham" (FOX), "The Flash" (CW Network), "Arrow" (CW Network), and "Constantine" (NBC).
