WB Consumer Products Teams with Nathan Sawaya's 'The Art of the Brick' for Worldwide Touring Exhibition Inspired by DC Comics

Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announced today a collaboration with The Art of the Brick to create a contemporary art exhibition featuring large-scale sculptures, inspired by DC Comics Super Heroes and Super-Villains and made entirely out of LEGO® bricks. The new exhibition, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics, created by artist, Nathan Sawaya, will feature Sawaya's take on the breadth and depth of the characters and stories from DC Comics’ 80-year history, told through Sawaya’s unique “LEGO lens.” Sawaya’s The Art of the Brick is the most successful LEGO art exhibition of all time.

"Nathan Sawaya is truly a master in his craft which we have experienced firsthand through previous collaborations," said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "Much like the characters of the DC Comics universe, The Art of the Brick has broad appeal. We are thrilled to be partnering with Nathan to tour this truly unique interpretation around the world for fans of all ages to experience.”

“This is an amazing opportunity as an artist to be granted the privilege to bring the pages of DC Comics to life and to interpret some of the most famous and iconic characters in history,” said Sawaya, founder of The Art of the Brick. “I look forward to bringing these characters to life in new ways that uniquely fit the medium.”

DC Comics Super Heroes including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and more will be featured alongside some of the most well-known DC Super-Villains including The Joker, The Penguin and Harley Quinn in a series of galleries. The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will also showcase Sawaya's interpretations on characters, vehicles, environments and themes found throughout the DC Comics mythology including transformation and reinvention, strength and weakness, as well as good vs. evil. The exhibition will stay true to the creative disciplines of Sawaya's original touring exhibition, which encourage inspiration, education and participation.

The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will tour worldwide beginning fall 2015.

Touring major cities around the globe, the exhibition will visit large scale venues customized for the art. Guests will travel through a series of galleries designed to make the experience intimate for the viewer. Guests will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite DC Comics Super Heroes and Super-Villains, all artistically created out of LEGO bricks.
