January 29, 2015: Mehcad Brooks Joins Cast of Supergirl as Jimmy Olsen
Actor Mehcad Brooks has landed the role of Jimmy Olsen in the upcoming CBS TV series "Supergirl" which will be based on the iconic character.
Brooks is best known for his roles as Benedict "Eggs" Talley in the second season of HBO's "True Blood," Matthew Applewhite in the second season of ABC's hit series "Desperate Housewives," and Terrance "TK" King in the USA series "Necessary Roughness."
Brooks will co-star alongside actress Melissa Benoist who recently was cast in the lead role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.
The series will focus on Kara Zor-El who, born on the planet Krypton, escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
"Supergirl" will be executively-produced & written by "Arrow" and "Flash" executive producer Greg Berlanti and "New Normal's" Ali Adler along with Sarah Schechter.
The series will be the fifth based on a DC Comics character currently airing on television including "Gotham" (FOX), "The Flash" (CW Network), "Arrow" (CW Network), and "Constantine" (NBC).
